ANNOUNCEMENT

QL CONTRIBUTOR ON CBC'S THE MAKING OF A POLITICAL ANIMAL

We know already who will be the next prime minister after Jean Chrétien leaves office sometime soon. But two months ago, the CBC television public affairs show Disclosure decided to put some unpredictability back into federal politics. It chose three candidates for its political reality show, The Making of a Political Animal, a show where ordinary Canadians would have the opportunity to run for prime minister.

Among the participants chosen was Paul Beaudry, a young law student at the University of Montreal and QL contributor, who ran a campaign defending smaller government and greater individual liberty.

For a whole week, the three candidates received training from experts in many fields: they had their own campaign manager, image consultant and media adviser. They were subjected to focus groups, media interviews and a real political convention. CBC cameras were on hand to record every moment of it.

On November 11th, 9:00pm, Disclosure will give us a condensed version of this election campaign. After the show airs, Canadians will be asked to choose – on line or by phone – between three newly minted political animals.
